The CDC has ordered a nationwide eviction moratorium that runs through the end of the year. The goal is to prevent the spread of COVID19.

@maxeddy This is a non-starter, because the CDC likely doesn’t have the authority to do this and will get sued by landlords. It’s just a smokescreen to hide the fact that Congress isn’t acting with a real law because the GOP is blocking it. :(
@thomasfuchs NPR reported that the CDC does have the authority through a public health law, so it might have teeth? But you're right that there will likely be a lot of pushback. And that this should have been done by congress.
