So if someone made a podcast about security that's aimed at the C-Level, would you listen to it? Not the usual deep, technical, jargon but rather aimed at executives. No news, just best practices.

Please boost for maximum coverage.

Anyone else working on the SANS Holiday Hack Challenge? (link below) I've gotten through 4 of the objectives so far and a handful of terminal challenges but it'd be fun to group up and meet some other people.

Also thanks again to @gangrif for pointing it out to me! I appreciate it!

Cybersecurity firm FireEye says it was hacked by a nation state

apnews.com/article/business-ca

"The stolen 'red team' tools — which amount to real-world malware — could be dangerous in the wrong hands. FireEye said there’s no indication they have been used maliciously. But cybersecurity experts say sophisticated nation-state hackers could modify them for future use probing vulnerabilities."

The infosec handbook has left the fediverse:
infosec-handbook.eu/news/2020-

I joined the fediverse thanks to them. Understandable decision, but still - what a loss... 💔

Apologies for the outage. I really need to move this site to a different provider.

I'm a developer looking to get into pentesting. I've played around on hackthebox.eu a bit but is this worth my time or are there better resources?

I hope everyone is well. I feel like it’s been forever since I spent much time here 😕

Buying my dad a PocketBook.

It's:

a) cheaper
b) not bound to Amazon (which he doesn't need anyway, he reads in Czech)

Any pocketbook owners got any advice/tips for setup so that he can pick it up day1?

Boosts welcome

looking at the sidekiq logs on this instance is always so enlightening. Like now, for instance, I can see that the instance "cyberfuck.club" appears to be offline and the instance "uncontrollablegas.com" is, well, having some issues.

At the current speed, it'll take about another 36 hours to finish rsyncing the tens of millions of media files from the old server to the new infosec.exchange server. Thanks for the patience. Everything should be working otherwise. Speed seems much better. For now.

And we’re back on a new server. It’s temporary while I find a reasonably priced permanent home for infosec.exchange. A raspberry pi with an old SD card runs circles around SSDNODES disk I/O.

I am going to be migrating infosec.exchange to a new server. We will be back later today. My apologies for the downtime.

It's been 5 years since the Italian hacker-for-hire contractor Hacking Team had its tools stolen and dumped online. Now a China-linked hacker group is reusing the defunct company's leaked UEFI to infect the deep recesses of victims' computers.

Hello Fediverse, do you have any book(s) recommendation to begin in ethical hacking?

Anyone have experience with the latest Intel i9 processors in laptops? I’m thinking about buying an X1 extreme gen 3. The i9-8xxx series mobile proc seems to get some bad reviews online
