In news that shouldn’t surprise anybody aware of the recent layoffs, is downsizing . An own Wiki platform comes with a hefty development, maintenance and moderation cost, so Mozilla isn’t going to do this any more.

Relying on GitHub pull requests for contributions has numerous advantages:

· Zero development effort for the contribution workflow
· No more proactive moderation, reviewing PRs instead
· Fewer ad-hoc contributions, meaning lower volume and more experienced contributors

For Mozilla, this change means huge savings. It remains to be seen whether MDN can stay relevant and receive the necessary amount of contributions with the new process. Personally, I never contributed to their compat info because creating a GitHub PR was too much effort.
