In news that shouldn’t surprise anybody aware of the recent layoffs, is downsizing . An own Wiki platform comes with a hefty development, maintenance and moderation cost, so Mozilla isn’t going to do this any more.

Relying on GitHub pull requests for contributions has numerous advantages:

· Zero development effort for the contribution workflow
· No more proactive moderation, reviewing PRs instead
· Fewer ad-hoc contributions, meaning lower volume and more experienced contributors

· · Web · 1 · 0 · 1

For Mozilla, this change means huge savings. It remains to be seen whether MDN can stay relevant and receive the necessary amount of contributions with the new process. Personally, I never contributed to their compat info because creating a GitHub PR was too much effort.
